What should I expect on the phone calls from the coaches?
You schedule calls on the quarter hour (:00, :15, :30, :45) from the coaches around times when you are typically nagged by junk food or overeating urges—times when your willpower is MIA and you need distraction and acknowledgement for doing well. Our coaches will call within a ten minute window around your scheduled call time.
On the call, our coaches will ask if you’ve done better on your diet. If you’ve made any improvement like eating less junk food, eating more fruit, really anything you can be proud of, you are prompted to press 1—you earn another Point and your coach congratulates you!
If you didn’t eat very well, you are prompted to press 2—the coach gives you a pep talk, reminding you about nutrition, willpower strengthening, or visualizing you in your ideal body.
Yes, the YoDiet coach calls are pre-recorded. That way you avoid excuses, apologizing, and feeling embarrassed about sneaking candy when no one was looking. None of which help you lose weight.
How do I know if I should really “press 1” on the coach calls?
You press 1 if you’re even a little bit pleased with yourself—If you’ve made any improvement to your diet, if you’ve put down some food you didn’t want to eat, if you made a healthier food choice, if you didn’t overeat, if you tested your willpower and came out ahead… the list goes on.
Is it a disaster if I “press 2” on the coach calls?
Hardly. Everyone sometimes has an extra slice of pizza or too many bites of chocolate cake. Even skinny people.
Think about this: If on 80% of your food encounters you manage to eat less or better, and on 20% of your food encounters you eat like you used to, you’re still doing much better for yourself. We want you to improve your diet—that doesn’t mean perfect your diet.
The good news is that you’re human, and basic psychology says you’ll naturally prefer to “press 1” on the calls than “press 2”—as a consequence you’re diet will improve over time. Again—improve, not perfect.
What happens when my number of calls per day drops?
After many weeks together, new habits will be ingrained, your willpower confidence will grow, and you’ll become more independent. Just like raising training wheels up a few inches, we decrease your daily calls. So you’re not surprised by the drop, we’ll send you a reminder email two days before your call schedule changes, say, from 7 to 5 calls per day. We’ll set a temporary, new call schedule for you, based on your current call schedule and results, but you can change it whenever you like.
For those not yet ready to drop their call schedule down to fewer calls per day, there is the option to “reset” your existing subscription back to the beginning (this option is available only to “Premium” Four-Month Subscribers), so you essentially start over, receiving 7 calls a day for one month, 5 calls a day for the second month, 3 calls a day for the third month, and 1 call a day for the fourth month.
We will send you a reminder email two days in advance of your call schedule dropping down from 7 to 5 or 5 to 3, calls per day. We’ll guess what your new call schedule should be, but you can always reschedule the calls.
For those who aren’t yet ready to decrease their call volume, and are “Premium” Four-Month subscribers, we offer a “reset” option. Click here to learn more.
Will YoDiet Work for me?
We can help dieters longing to improve their eating and exercising habits in order to lose weight, but are having trouble changing their routines, staying motivated, and finding their willpower. YoDiet can help you strengthen and gain confidence in your willpower to resist overeating at dinner, sugar cravings every afternoon, or mindless, endless snacking while watching TV.
Up until now the only positive reinforcement for dieters was weight loss—which can be slow and very erratic! We provide you another form of positive reinforcement—when you eat well you get to “press 1” to hear our coaches’ congratulations and earn YoPoints. It’s like getting a gold star when you were a kid.
We also remind you endlessly to eat healthy (if we keep telling you to eat more fruit and veggies, you eventually will!), send exercise tips (e.g., listening to music when you exercise will give you more energy), willpower facts, and Rhyme ThymeTM poems on the perils of dieting.
YoDiet’s team provides positive reinforcement, humor, weight loss tips, and good food suggestions:
- Proactive help to change your habits.
- Unshakable support to keep you motivated, especially during weight loss plateaus
.
- To find and strengthen your willpower
.
Spend Wisely
We can’t help everybody lose weight. YoDiet is not for people who are looking for a temporary “trick” diet or “magic” diet pills.
What is a “Snack Pack”?
To get your 8-10 fruit and veggies a day, you might toss an apple and orange in your bag as you head out the door. That’s a great start—but if you’re like most people, the fruit might sit in your bag all week. Here’s the fix: Take fruit and veggie snacks that are 100% ready to eat. Wash the fruit. Peel the oranges and separate the segments. Peel and cut kiwi. Cut apple or pear. Yank grapes off the stem. Cut the stems out of strawberries. Cut up carrot, celery, and sweet pepper sticks.
Put the prepared fruit into a baggie or Tupperware—we call this a snack pack. You’ll be amazed at how much more fruit and veggies you’ll eat if it’s washed, prepared, and ready to eat. Have different fruits and veggies everyday so it stays interesting. And include some protein to keep you full—low fat cheese, a handful of plain nuts or seeds. It’s also good to eat fruit and veggies for your evening snack.
If I’m not overeating or eating junk, what the heck will I do with myself?
When you subscribe, we ask you to write down a list of snacks and activities you imagine doing at your ideal body weight. (Writing down something is scientifically proven to make you more inclined to actually do it!) This is your go-to list. Don’t worry if you can’t think of anything other than chocolate cake—we provide suggestions for Good Food Ideas or activities.
A good fallback is to eat more fruit—for midnight snack attacks and dessert!
What is the One-month Extension Subscription?
For customers who still want our moral support at the end of their current package, we offer a one-month subscription extension for $25. Customers can receive up to three calls per day for a month. We’ll still email your daily Rhyme Thyme™ poem, too!
How do I reset my Four-Month "Premium" Subscription?
If you are a Four-Month “Premium” Subscriber, and want to “reset” your subscription back to the beginning, click here. You’ll start over with four months of service ahead of you, receiving 7 calls per day for the first month.

How often should I weigh myself?
The latest research from Cornell University says you should weigh yourself everyday. Give it a try. But don't expect the numbers to necessarily drop every day, even if you've been "good." But it is good to get a handle on a couple pound weight gain before it's big enough to throw you into a tailspin.
We'll email you once a week asking for your weight. And take your measurements. Sometimes the scale doesn’t cooperate but the tape measure does.
When are my weekly Results posted?
Your weekly results are posted on your Results page every week. If you joined on a Tuesday, your new results go up every Tuesday, early in the morning.
Help, I’m not getting my daily poem from Rhymin’ Simon!
If you’re not getting your daily poem from Rhymin’ Simon, click the “Yes” box at the bottom of your Coach Call Schedule page, in the My Account section.
I tried to press 1 (or 2) on a coach call, but nothing happened. What went wrong?
Whoops! Technology is great, when it works. Sometimes the phone lines don't hear the "beeps" when you press 1 or 2. If this happens frequently to you, please let us know (email help@yodiet.com) and we'll have our techies see what they can do.
How many calls a day should I schedule for myself?
That depends on you! We give everyone the opportunity to receive 7 calls/day at the beginning of a subscription, tapering down to 5 calls/day then 3 calls/day. Most people want to maximize their exposure to the coaches. Other people find our service to be just as effective when they schedule and receive fewer calls/day. Do whatever works best for you!
